Dr Madhulika Mhatre is the founder Secretary of the Vitiligo Foundation of India.

She is a consultant dermatologist, trichologist and a vitiligo specialist, practicing in the metropolitan city of Mumbai. She is the director of Skin Saga Centre for Dermatology at Andheri, Mumbai, India.

She is a M.D Gold Medalist, having completed her post-graduate degree in Dermatology from the prestigious Bharati Vidyapeeth University in Pune and secured a distinction. She also has a one-year fellowship degree in Aesthetic Dermatology, under the world-renowned Dr Venkataram Mysore from Bangalore as well as a fellowship in Trichology under Dr Rachita Dhurat. She has also trained in Lasers and Aesthetics under the master dermatologist- Dr Michael Gold, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr Madhulika’s area of expertise is Vitiligo and Vitiligo Surgery. She has trained extensively for over 5 years under the guidance of Dr Sanjeev Mulekar, the pioneer of Melanocyte transplantation/ Non-cultured epidermal cell suspension surgery in India.

Currently, her centre offers all types of vitiligo treatments, including full-body phototherapy, excimer laser, suction blister grafting, punch grafting, and a complete melanocyte transplantation surgery set-up.

She has been awarded various scholarships for her work in the field of Vitiligo- reciprocal Scholarship to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) at Boston, EADV at Paris and Berlin, ASPCR at Srilanka, WCD at Milan,Vancouver and Singapore, DASIL in Goa and IPCC in Japan. She has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international conferences including the ones mentioned above, having given over 300 talks globally.

She has received the Young Dermatologist award at Mid-Dermacon 2018 along with many other awards for her work on Non-Cultured Epidermal Cell Suspension in the treatment of Vitiligo and other leucodermas, and is now considered as one of the key opinion leaders in the field of vitiligo treatment.

She is on the Editorial board of the IJDVL as well as the reviewer for various journals including the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. She has published over 50 articles and chapters in various national and international journals and textbooks and has also been involved as an associate editor for the same.
